Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Had to call my credit card company as when I went to pay off my balance I discovered over £3000 worth of fraudulent transactions on my statement. The card has been cancelled and the transactions flagged for removal. They were all made in bars in Ireland at the start of the month.

I suppose this not entirely mundane, fortunately. I think I need a coffee now.

Oh goodness Diogenes, that’s awful, I had a similar issue a few years ago, one transaction was for a court fine! I was refunded in full thankfully.

Mr Ness had something similar a few ago. A large number of fraudulent transactions by someone trying to use his details to buy stuff through the BT online shop. They were all sorted in the end. Annoying though.

There were four separate transactions at four different bars and restaurants, three for about £700 and one for just over £1000, all made over the phone, plus another couple that were then blocked. It seems strange that they didn't contact me after that. Also, who pays for sums that large at bars over the phone and what establishments take those sort of payments? Are they in on it?

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
