Fuchsias always seem to take a long time to get going in the spring.

Chicory has pretty flowers. I once forced some "chicons" from a chicory plant, but it was too much like hard work to do it regularly.

Re my buddleia davidii, which I assumed had survived the winter: further inspection has revealed no new growth, so maybe it hasn't.

No Mow May would have been fine if husband had bothered mowing in April. Gardens are now foot high with grasses/weeds/whatever. He's agreed to sort it on Monday. Mowing won't do, it needs a scythe. Which we don't have. I'm not making this my problem!
I spent this afternoon clearing out the far patio and chucking loads of old slates, bricks etc in the skip that's still here after our friends/builders did our near to house patio last week. Also got tomatoes into their final places, did some pruning, and cleared some undergrowth so the back gates actually open onto the field.
Veg update:

Strawberries and blackcurrants rampant
Runner beans happily established
Peas starting to shoot but I may be battling rabbits
Courgettes OK, but needing nightly slug patrol
Beetroot and parsnips have sprouted, not doing much yet
Potatoes all happy in multiple beds
Spring onions iffy

Need a day free with family to go and get a firepit and lights for new patio, but shifts and commitments mean that could be weeks away!

Is that not the point of no mow May?

I'm doing no mow June, and at least 3/4 of July! At least on half of my lawns.

I have had paths and edges all along. Makes it look more intentional!

It is an interesting process: watching your garden do its own thing!
A friend did send his gardener to sort my veg beds, so I can still grow some veg when I can...

I cannot currently get to my "food forest" area but it looks interesting!

I think this is salvageable and a great learning curve.

No mow May has essentially been no mow Spring. Which is all good and well if I/we have a plan to sort the resulting jungle. Which we didn't. And no mower is now going to get through it. I'd like to think it will be sorted before Turtle's swimming pool goes up next week, but I have a sinking feeling that TP will use that as a "weed suppressant"/excuse not to mow 🤣

Strimmer is how we do ours when we've left it for a while then mow. Yours might be too long Turtle.

Hanging out in hear now as we've bought a house with a beautiful garden. Aim is not to kill it 😂doing as little as possible in year 1 as waiting to see what comes up.
