Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Ha!...indeed, @riggys99 it's very difficult to just have one!...
Brandy cream, @LindsD may be a good thing for me to try as well as cheese. But not with the same pie(s)

456 - forgot to count my regular tea break one yesterday as well! Slacking.

I like mine straight out the pack, with a cuppa.

My dad microwaves his and put on a load of squirty cream.

LazyDaisy wrote:Spent the morning wrapping presents and listening to Vernon Kay on the radio. He was waxing lyrical about the mince pies one of the team had brought in - mentioning that the pastry had orange in it and there was a small dollop of sweetened cream cheese on top of the mincemeat, under the pastry lid. I recognised that description - the recipe is from a 40-year-old cookbook, Cooking for Christmas by Josceline Dimbleby that Sainsbury's published. My edition is from 1981, cost 75p and is much be-splattered I can confirm that the mince pies are second to none and I'll be making a batch this weekend. I'm not going to bother with commercial ones this year.

Made my first batch of these this morning. I confess that in recent years I've used Jusrol pastry but today I went back to the original recipe and made my own pastry with butter and lard.

OMG I'd forgotten how good homemade pastry made with a bit of lard can be.
