Self-insuring is often sensible if you have the money to cover whatever the expense is you're insuring against. That isn't the case with, say, home and life insurance (nobody keeps hundreds of thousands of pounds in the bank so that if their house burns down they can buy a new one), but vet bills may well be one of those where it is. Unemployment insurance is a good example, technically it does exist but the cost is astronomical and most people are better off keeping a few months' expenditure in the bank.

It's not something I've had to worry about as I haven't yet had my own pets, but I would probably take out pet insurance for the peace of mind of never being presented with a horrible dilemma, as Winded says.

So, were back off to the vet again today. Breezer is the same, there's only been one day without sickness and he looks skinnier. I'll update you later.

My poor boy. He's was so poorly, on top of the pancreitis and bowl disease he had developed diabeties.

He's gone now. It was so hard. But for the best.

Breezer. I know he doesn't look happy, but he is! He had a grumpy look that could give grumpy cat a run for his money! He would sit and stare at me like this until I got up and fed him.
