Sounds like a fancy cat flap. My big dopey fella just sits and stares at the back door when he wants out, wiling it to open. Susie, the skinny minny girl cat comes and miaows at you then walks through the kitchen to the door. Such a contrast in behaviour. Funny wee creatures ☺️

We installed a Sureflap microchip cat flap in October. We taped it open for the first day or two until they got used to going in and out of it, and yes, "train" it before fitting in in the door.

Before that I was never getting more than about three consecutive hours' sleep as they were always asking to go out or come back in again and it was driving me slowly bonkers.

I bought a new brand of dried food for madam yesterday as we're not happy with the effect the wet food has on, erm, the content of the litter tray (sorry TMI!). I decided I ought to weigh it out properly so I that I would know what a daily portion looks like rather than just guess and end up over or under feeding her. I put the scales on the bench and weighed out 70g then tipped about a third of it out into her bowl and put it in the usual spot on the floor. I was in the next room a few moments later when i heard the telltale sound of biscuits being rattled around the bowl and said to Mr H "ooh she must like them". When I walked back into the kitchen I was momentarily puzzled when I couldn't see her on the floor (although sometimes it's tricky: black floor & black cat). All became clear when I found her up on the bench with her head in the bowl on the scales! Cheeky cat :)

We finally got round to buying, programming & fitting a fancy sureflap catflap. And my baby mastered it within a few hours * proud face*. Except now I'm worried that we'll never see her again unless it's a meal time!
