Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Like Linds it irritates me slightly that I feel I should comply - I was reminded on our trip to Paris that most French women don't bother.

As a doctoral student I shaved nothing. I don't bother with legs these days but wax my armpits because I feel as though it's better for deodorant (and I feel I need it more now) and tweeze out any chin hairs, more because I can't stand the feel of them - there aren't enough of them to be noticeable (yet).

Epilator for legs, arms and armpits: quick, easy and seems to permanently reduce it quite a lot. Also tweezers, x10 magnifying mirror and one of these springy things for face amazon.co.uk

I’m blessed with baby hair on my face and none whatsoever on my legs apart from my knee caps and big toes πŸ˜‚

I'm naturally very pale with very dark hair. I remember as a child being picked on because I had hairy arms so I've always been self-conscious about it. Had very hairy from my teenage years onwards and it was a massive boost to my self confidence to get my bikini line sorted out. Oddly the hair on my arms is not really noticeable now!

Facial hair has only become a problem with the menopause and waxing and tweezering is working for now.

Report from the other side (am nearly 72 now)

I don't think I'm unusual in any way but one of the few real advantages of being POST menopause is an almost complete lack of body hair. I'm very fair but always shaved my legs and pits. Can't remember when I last did but suspect it was before I was 60.

Delicate point: pubes thin out but don't disappear.

Only very, very occasionally do I notice a stray facial hair. My head hair is pretty much the same as ever- fine but plentiful (hurrah!). Eyebrows and lashes were never plush but are more scant now (boo!)

I’ve just succumbed to an ad for eyelash serum as they’re definitely thinner and shorter than they used to be!

My arms were certainly hairy at school but it’s so much less noticeable now, I guess one of very few menopause benefits!

My sister is very pale-skinned but had dark hair on her arms like you @Little Nemo , she hated it as a teenager. I'm much darker so it doesn't show much anyway.

I had an entire summer last year when I didn't shave my legs, just to see how I felt about it. I decided that whilst no one else cares what my legs look like, I prefer the feel of them shaved, so I've gone back to it.

Armpits get done as and when, again because I prefer the look of it.

Bikini line doesn't get done. I've never found anything that doesn't irritate the skin that actually works. But I prefer a boy-cut to my swimsuit anyway, so again I don't care.

There is a random hair on the side of my face. I'm not sure anyone can see it, but I can kind of feel it under the skin so my fingers keep going to check. It's 'feelable' to me way before it's visible. And ceertainly before it's pluckable. It bugs me, so I pluck it out as soon as I can. I'm always amazed that the tiny bit of hair that was sticking out turns out to be over 1cm when it gets plucked!
