Re the Altrincham change, you do miss the flyover on the way back, but they've added in a very short but sharpish hill going over the railway line. There's currently a nice planter on that street as it's broadly pedestrianised, but I could see that being mildly annoying 16 odd miles into the race!
But, to reassure others, the new "hill" over the railway is both shorter and less ascent than the outward leg of the flyover.

On my recce (and given local knowlege) I was surprised that wasn't the route tbh. Anything that removes the feeling of 'backtracking' along the same stretch of route is good IMO.

I suspect that part of the criteria for designing the route set by Trafford Council is for the organisers to minimise disruption to residents and businesses whereever possible. Clearly, out n back courses will effect fewer residents/businesses. Whereas the new route will affect "a few" more residents, but crucially makes the car park at Altrincham train/metrolink station inaccessible, and possibly (slightly) effects access to/from Tesco.

Looks like they have the same minor kink that added a little bit of distance last year but presumably a complete remeasuring anyway with a new route.

The course profile looks reassuring and hopefully it will have been remeasured to be exact. Seems to be approaching rapidly but more than pleased with how my training has gone. I have a 10 k on Sunday and a 20 mile race the week after that I will run at around marathon pace. I did 18 last Sunday with 13 at MP which felt relatively easy so here's hoping I don't get my normal pre marathon jinx of a virus 🙈
How is everyone else feeling?

Thanks for the route updates - great to have the local knowledge. I see the start times have come out now too. I'm on yellow at 10am with a sub-4 target (which fortunately fits well with my punt on a 5pm train home afterwards!).
Hope you stay lurgy-free solo and good to hear training has gone well. I did 20M last week which felt 10x harder than the 17 a couple of weeks before, but I had a slightly sore throat so suspect I might have been shaking off a bit of lurgy. Aiming to fit in at least one more 20, possibly two, before taper. This marathon block has felt far less intense than previous ones but I'm on a long leave from work at the moment, so haven't had the usual juggling to fit it all in around a full-time job and commute. Just need the weather to play ball now as I'm quite bored of training in cold and wet!

Light Blue wave here. Hopefully means I won't quite suffer like I did last year in having a pacer pack hunt me down and storm past at about 20 miles. Talk about demoralising!

Thanks CasB. I can imagine leave from work will have made training much less stressful. I have just returned from a two week stay with my daughter in Florida. The beautiful weather and not working made a huge difference to my running. I even managed an 80 mile week! Light Blue for me too, 9.20 start.

Maroon here, not starting until 10:30 (which I'm a bit anxious about, hope it's not a hot day). I think I put 4:30 as my final time estimate but hoping to be closer to 4:15-4:20 (managed a 1:59 half a few weeks ago).
Ran a strong 20-miler today. Got a 32-mile ultra next week (eeek) replacing the usual long run, and then 22 the week after that before tapering. Feeling semi-confident.
