I normally run with a house key and phone, and sometimes a plastic bag and mask if im picking up shopping on the way home, but the need to charge the phone was an added issue

I didn't mind getting rid of an old cardigan at the start but it sounds like quite a faff. I doubt I'll be racing it again for a few years though, my GFA time has expired.

Fitz
I live in London so didn't face the same logistical challenges of those staying in hotels but it still felt very weird leaving the house with no keys and no wallet. I used contactless on my phone to pay for the trains as I was planning to run with my phone anyway for the Garmin tracking app so Mrs Fitz could follow my progress. Flipbelt was easy and comfy for phone, a few gels & jelly babies.

I discarded my new old clothes in the bins at the start and carried a few other bits to the start-area in a plastic (booo!) bag - banana, drink, mag to read on the train...

I had a good day, considering the injuries I had been carrying beforehand. I spotted no other Fetchies on the route but got a couple of shouts from supporters. There was a fellow in an AVOID shirt at ye olde Fetche Pointe location around M22-23 whom I shouted out to but he didn't hear / respond!

my clothes in my drop bag were wet when i picked it up at the end. There had been a heavy shower and the bags where out in the elements. I made do with my space blanket for warmth

Mrs J possibly (nice to see you and Jigs btw) - I was near the old fetchpoint with Schnecke and we did see a couple of fetch vests. It was less busy round there than normal, plenty of room for a change. Even saw ourselves on the TV coverage later!

Fragile Do Not Bend
That’s not good Doc, some people could be really badly affected by not having a dry warm layer to put on.

I had a similar problem when I did Cardiff half many years ago. The drop bags were under gazebos but it had rained a lot and the bags were on the ground so my stuff got wet from water running down the road. I had to nick my husband’s jumper and get back to the hotel as quickly as possible in order to get warm. I make sure my things are in a waterproof bag now if it’s going to rain!

Little Miss Happy
That really isn't good DocM. I would suffer in that situation.

It was a plastic bag Frag.

Probably the drawstring at the top was the weak point. I would put my clothes in dry bag inside the bag they provided. That’s not a criticism of anyone for not doing that as you don’t necessarily think of it unless it’s happened to you before.
