I generally only taper for about two weeks too so two more weeks of hard work for me all being well and then the dreaded taper.

For a one-time finish, avoidance of injury is a must. I have tended to gamble on more training though, for a faster time, and my DNS rate is about 50% which isn't so great.

Thistle.
Do we get a final instruction booklet mailed or is it an email?

I’m doing 22 this weekend, another longer one next then will start tapering the week after.

My training has been affected by a new job in the last two weeks, and now a cold this week. Best to get it out of the way!

I'm doing Dorney 20 on Sunday. The cold and lack of recent training might turn it from a MP run to a LSR but I'm hoping for the former.

For those out for the first time at marathon distance this VMLM, the objective is simply to finish so run conservatively. The crowds and the buzz can easily make you run faster than you should do. Rein it in, get to 20 then see how you feel. If you still feel ok at 23, turn on the after-burners!

Groundhog
Just confirmed yesterday that I'm marshalling at the finish line, with the "catching people as they collapse over the line" job. I'm usually to be found at the right hand gantry on the shady side of The Mall. I'll see if I can spot any Fetch gear and wear a "Groundhog" name badge.

Good luck and have a great day. :-)

Groundhog, if you were there last year you probably tried to pick me up as I sat on the kerb and tried to spew down a drain.

Sorry for my behaviour and thanks for helping me

Mr. K.
I thought that said SHABBY side of the Mall :-)

I`ll be on the left hand side of the gantry as you run down (the `far` side) :-)

I'll be in a CRUK vest. The one year I collapsed I was fortunate enough to be caught by the nice man behind me and was on a stretcher before I regained consciousness - took me ages to talk the first aid people into letting me go though!
