Yellow GFA for me too, woot!

After a few years starting from green, which is quite crowded, and a little twisty in the first mile, I had run a fast enough time to start from Red, FGFA last year, and then got injured in the last month and couldn't make it :-( (see page 4 of this thread!). Very happy to have one of the new Yellow numbers this year.

They have now fixed the details on the time of the baggage lorry departure from the Yellow Start:

That's still quite early! I may need an earlier bus from Oxford than usual. (I'm sure the last time I was on the green start it was about 10:00, that's got earlier too.)

Wait... so it's a staggered start in yellow, at 10:10?

Oranj - I'll prob see you in the changing room again at the end. I do like to have a friendly face in there to pick me up, as well as generally requiring some support after crossing the line.

That's if you can call it a room! Really, you might expect a bit more for the London marathon!!

I'm on yellow too.

yep 10:10 for us guys. Waiting until it's really hot to let the slower folks off. Poor buggers.

Ah ha. I missed that detail! (I DNS'd last year).

Looking forward to it WW. I've had a bit of an up and down winter, so you might get to our salubrious underground car park changing area first this year.

10:10 is the elite men, green and yellow starts. They first tried the staggered starts last year to save a bit of the congestion in the early couple of miles as it introduces some gaps. The Fast GFA has always been an early departure for the baggage lorry, but it was claiming 9:05 previously which was just a daft time as it's before most people will have even arrived at the start area.

I guess they just want the fast GFA lorry to the finish sooner so they have time to sort it out there as they know they will have a rush of people looking for bags from that one lorry all at the same time. Other lorry loads of bags are not all going to have people finishing in the same 15 minute window.
