For the Blue start, getting the train to Blackheath from London Bridge is easy peasy. Te trains can be standing room only, but they put lots on. You can e

I stayed in a (much cheaper) Prem Inn or Holiday Inn or whatev in Croydon and got the train to New Cross Gate (I think) then a short bus and walk in from there. It was great. Loads of other runners to follow.

Little Miss Happy, two 3 hour pace groups were definitely ahead of me in 2013 and I had to overtake both of them at two different points on course. Each time there was a huge guddle of 100 runners around them and it was very tricky.

However, I accept that I pace marathons a bit weirdly. I started at back of Red F-GFA, about 1 min or so to cross line, then did first 4 miles or so at slower than 3 hour pace and gradually got faster, doing a neg split. Hence, catching groups all the way. My choice.

Good luck VMLMers. I'm getting excited for you. Taper for Boston for me now. Travel out on Saturday. Logistics *slightly* harder than London! :-) G

That's poor planning to be flying out on the Saturday when there is a J parkrun over there waiting for you to run it.

Thistle.
Lots of help re getting to start! So, I’m green start and staying in Edgware Road, not too far from Hyde Park. I can stumble back to hotel when done :-)

What way would you guys/ladies get to the start?

See what you think.....walk to Bond Street station (1 mile) tube to London Bridge and then train to Maze Hill? Is ALL transport free on the day for runners?

Yes, all free. Just flash your race number to the guard at the gate to the platforms. Also works after the race until 5pm.

At the big termini, it's such a bundle they'll likely not check.
