Smileybob, would it be a good idea to make a group? Then we can join and you can fmail group members with details?

I am hoping I won't be running at night, really really hoping. But you never know... Wont make any recces for a while with other stuff going on, but as time passes I hope to make some. A group sounds like a good idea. |

I have absolutely no intension of doing this but was wanting to ask about training for 100 ( or there abouts)! I am probably doing a 24 hour event in June. The furthest I have done is 60 miles in just under 12 hours. I have no idea what will happen after that and no idea if I would stop to sleep in the 12 hour ( its laps so I suppose if it starts raining I will rest!). So am guessing I would do about 80 ish miles maybe a bit more. I have just been looking through my race schedule up until then ( the fetch portfolio is not up to date) and don't have anything longer than 30 miles. I do have some double marathon weekends though and have plenty of marathons So my question is should I have a rethink of my schedule so that I can fit in a 50 miler? Or will I be ok having only got up to 30 miles? I could do a 40 miler at dukeries but that would be 10 days before so think I will do 30 there instead. I wasn't going to do ridgeway 40 due to the hassle involved getting there but maybe I should for the distance. I would struggle to do that distance in training |

depends what you want to acheive, I managed the NDW 100 on pretty minimal training and then 80 miles at a 24hr race 3 weeks later (where I had 3hrs sleep) but to be honest it wasnt the best idea. Not trying to boast (as the performances didnt warrant it) just letting you know it can be done.

Isn't the recce on 15th January Buttermere to Dalemain? Smileybob, I'd love to join you and Debbie for the recce on 1st April. And let me know if you plan any others that don't involve a day and a night of no sleep when I don't have to (i accept I'll have to do that on the Actual Day) |
