Popped into the gym this morning and got myself 3 pbs. Well I'm saying 3 but I don't think I've really recorded my weights for those lifts before.. Anyway 30kg for shoulder to overhead (push press) 35 kg clean 35kg jerk.
I am being encouraged to go for a competition next weekend but I need a same sex partner. It's a beginners competition so you need to be having to scale everything and have less than 18 months experience ✔️ I don't think I can find a partner though. The reason for going to the gym in the first place was to see if I could lift the prescribed weight for the competition ✔️
Atm I'm happy I could lift the weight after a tough session yesterday and I actually went for a short (2 mile) run this morning. It was slow but none stop. I can't really remember the last I 'went' for a run. Sharkie I haven't tried sprinting....... yet! I will do it soon I promise. I excited and scared by it so I'm building myself up to it 😂
Anyhoo time to batch cook for the week ahead and do a roast dinner so I can collapse on the sofa for the rest of today

Good luck in the comp EB.
Returned to the gym yesterday, just 3 X 6 squat and 3 X 6 clean deadlift at around (what used to be?) 40-60% to re-acclimatise without getting severe DOMS. Worked so far.
No Olympic lifts as rehabbing an abs and groin strain ATM. Probably a good idea to do a few weeks of basic strength first anyway. It did make me realise how much time Olympic lifting takes up!

It is time-consuming, isn't it? A full body routine could easily be a couple of hours in the gym, most of it filling in time between sets.

Indeed it could. I need to remember a squat and deadlift session can be pretty quick for those days where for whatever reason, I don't want to spend long in the gym.

I can be in the garage for an hour just doing curls, overhead and bench presses, and deadlifts, with a relatively small number of warm-up sets.
Squats are back off the menu for now but I'll pick them up again after my race on Sunday and continue until I start marathon training at the end of December.

Ooh how exciting, EB! Good luck!
PT emailed me my life for the next 6 weeks - he is very optimistic about the proposed lifts at my next comp in December! Lots of heavy lifting to be getting on with. Squats felt ok last night - deadlifts tomorrow, then PT session on Friday.

Competition was so much harder than I ever thought it would be. It was obvious from the beginning it wasn't a 'beginners' competition you just had to look at people. On top of that I overheared people say 'this won't be like the last two competitions'
Ist WOD 45 secs to do 5 clean and jerks each (team of two) 15 sec transition to next weight. If you don't make the set it's max burpees over the bar to the end of the time and you finish at that stage. Stages were 20kg, 25kg, 30kg, 35kg, 37.5kg, 40kg, 42.5kg, 45kg, 47.kg, 50kg
2nd WOD
10 minute time cap in pairs alternate rounds 10 STOH
10 front squats 10 ring rows
