Sounds like you need to use your glutes and hammies more than your poor quads AR!

Yeah, I think they were targeted a bit more today. I'll keep you posted about the DOMS.

Lots going on, and lots of great lifting!
I started a new strength cycle today - 5 rep max of 67.5kg on squat, then down to 60kg for another 3 reps. Heavy squats still scare me a little, and do feel I want to work on technique a lot more. Couldn't get a box for kettlebell step-ups this morning, so did some 20kg suitcase carries instead. Deadlift session on Saturday morning.
PT is doing my upper body session with me tomorrow, and he wants me to try bench press before he goes off for December.

You're doing really well IW.
Sharkie, that looks like a great deal you've got on those weights.

3 sets, even. You'll soon get back in the swing of it AR! Although I was starting to feel my legs this afternoon - still not sure about this really early morning lifting!

Had my first go at bench press tonight in PT session - only almost squished myself once and had to be saved! Will certainly be interesting to practice, but got 3 reps at 35kg, which we were both pretty chuffed with for first go.

Everyone is going well. (apart from the DOMS - but we'll count that as a badge of honour shall we?)
One thing I remembered that's quite fun - and illuminating - is to put my stats into Duracel's Strength Standards thing. Once I stick my correct age and weight in I see I'm doing alright - I even make 'novice' rather than 'beginner' on Bench and I'm up to Intermediate on my Deadlift. Cool!
Alpen - you should look! The age range thing goes in 10s - ie 60-69 so there's a bonus and you do bench a heavy weight!

Okay, so I did it for the bench press and I'm a beginner.
I'm sure I'll be doing more lifting than I have for a couple of years but it won't be the main part of the training. I think this is one of those guys that will give you something different every time so you won't get bored. Early days, but I'm sure I feel a bit stronger already after only 2 sessions.

Ok, but I bet your one rep max would be a lot more than 20k If you do 12 reps straight off! I put 22 in because I know I can do ONE at 22!
