I bought 'The Sock Drawer' by Verity Castledine because the patterns looked so nice. Made three pairs and stopped because I prefer the feel of stocking stitch on my feet. Picky or what?

I like my nice plain 'vanilla' sock recipe that I can just make without hassle. I only knit socks when I need something small and portable - car journeys, conferences, that sort of thing.

Right that's it, you lot are so inspiring my next project will be socks. I have turned one heel in my life, but didn't even finish that sock, let alone the pair. I think the pattern was too complicated (I tend to jump in with both feet) (see what I did there?).

I always thought turning heels was complicated and it put me off socks.
Then I found Winwick Mum on Facebook. Her pattern is great and the instructions are very clear.
My next stop was Fish Lips Kiss heel (on Ravelry and maybe in the drop box here?). Very wordy instructions but a nice result.
Knitting a few Beekeepers quilt hexapuffs taught me the perfect way to start toe-up socks which I prefer.

I always use the Winwick mum pattern and just make up new stitch patterns for the leg and top of foot. I like the sole to be plain stst
