I like the looks of that...how wide does it work out to be?

Garfield there are various options. The "standard" is a 120cm wide but I'm making mine a double, about 180cm (more like 170cm I suspect as my tension gauge piece was narrower than suggested), and there are also other variations suggested.

Thanks sallykate. I'd like to try crochet something like that, hence the query. Double might work nicely...but I'll have to let that wait until April when my time is my own again.

I’ve struggled with crochet tension, mine tend to be too wide and not high enough. Mostly I find it easy to fudge things with crochet, and thankfully a lot of things don’t need the accuracy

Just been trying out the stitch as a tension square. Seems quite easy as I'm a beginner. But that's with 27 stitches. Could be different when I try the full pattern later in the year!

Sweet pea? It's super easy. And although I'm not necessarily a fan of blankets where you're crocheting just one row for several feet and not varying the stitch very much it's actually quite nice not to be doing complicated squares (which was my last big thing) - with the added benefit that you don't have to join all the things together.

Making a quick toy today as I can't do any more blanket until Friday when the next bit of the pattern is released.

That's why that appeals to me...the idea of crocheting sewing zillions of squares together would be tedious!

I've just gotten back into knitting after an extended break (quite literally, I broke my finger and it took ages to heal!!)

Im trying to recreate a hat but I cant quite figure out what this rib stitching is. Does anyone have any ideas?

As in the two colours or the actual rib?
With it being two colours like that is it brioche or double knitting perhaps?

Kind of both. At first I thought it was just K1P1 with different colours but the red with the black bit in the middle threw me. I've had another look at the inside of the hat and the colours are reversed so maybe it is double knitting afterall. Its just Ive only ever seen/done dk for patterns so havent seen this before.

I'll do some experimenting :)
