Karate woman
Hi, I have been reading some of these posts and it is great to know that so many runners are crafty. I have found my love for knitting again and although I would not dare to put anything into a show, the people I have knit for have loved them just because they are hand knitted. My last project was with the snowflake cuddly wool which I found vile to knit with, strangely enough the lighter shade was better than the darker shade, but I am not a fan of these 'funny' yarns. The project before that was Spiderman. I downloaded a free pattern from the internet and although I have never done anything like that before I merrily googled the words I didn't understand and found demonstrations on you tube. One of the learning curves for me was the three needle method of joining the shoulder seams - as part of the pattern was double ribbed at the shoulders this gave the perfect match and the seam is great. I tried it in the baby's coat I have just finished - instead of casting off the stitches I put them on a big safety pin. As these shoulders were slanted slightly I ended up using more pins on the next cast off rows. But the three needle method worked and the seam is much better than my sewing. The yarn I used for the spiderman was Tivoli Blockbuster DK 100g and it was the cheap end of the prices in the wool shop. I had the amount recommended (halving it because it was 100g) and did the Jacket (with zip) and still had loads left, so I bought a plain cardigan pattern and knit that inserting the face on the back, the small face on the one sleeve and the spider web on the other sleeve. I still had enough left over to do a scarf inserting the small face one end and the web the other. Amazing yarn and my friend says it washes and dries easily. Oh dear getting carried away. Happy knitting xx |

Yes to Wobbling's idea on the previous page Welcome Karate woman. I put a photo of my turban thing for Bletchley Park on Ravelry and am now convinced I did the twist wrongly. It looks less well than it should because I have a big head and it was rather stretched in the photo. Never mind, it's done, donated and I wont be knitting another one. Thanks to Vrap for donating the wool

Oh wow, macrame, I did that as a teen. I had a book with some suffmin including a plant pot hanger but not sure I ever made it. I did have a macrame owl I'd been given that hung on my bedroom door.
