cheap yarn - kit cost £7:50 but hey it's a Christmas jumper! If I do some each month it'll get done in time I think! Have also measure my butt for that skirt you did for Tink so now I need some nice yarn for work - will do it knee length mind!! Thinking dark maroon or navy |

Tink's maroon version is lovely in real life and navy would be an excellent choice too

The pattern length is, "Keep knitting in pattern until it's long enough." With Tink's, I did all the pattern increases, then worked one pattern repeat without any increases, then several pattern repeats with a decrease every time the direction of the shaping changed, so it's quite off-piste. Would you be looking to make a similar shape, or something less shaped below the ? I can probably help with specific details. The yarn I used for Tink's is Wollmeise DK. rohrspatzundwollmeise.de It's 100% merino and lovely to work with. I've had a look at what's currently in stock and there are no dark blues (I have some Blaue Tinte, but it's more royal blue than navy blue) but there is Tollkirsche, which is a really lovely rich brown-leaning maroon, and Zimtapfel, which is a dark red. There's also Krokodil, which is a very dark olive green that I like a lot. You'd probably need three skeins to be safe, Tink's skirt took 1.75 skeins. You'll also need a smaller needle size than you'd normally use for the yarn weight you choose. The pattern is written for 4-ply, and I used Wollmeise Twin for the skirt I knitted for myself, but it knits up a million times faster in DK. |

Merlot is the colourway I used for Tink's skirt. It's currently in vogue and tends to fly off the cybershelf. I was lucky in that someone on Ravelry who lives in Bavaria got some for me from the Wollmeise shop.

Thanks Meglet and HB - that sounds quite easy. I assume with the towel on table version you need books or something to weight the towel down so it doesn't scrunch up. The floor version may be easier!

I'd want knee length that doesn't hug the butt - think I need to play with the pattern and lose lard 1st mind. I must also use the stash I have for the tops I have planned! No more space just yet and nowhere it hide any! |
