@Gooner you going solo?

I have poles I might get rid of
If GG doesn’t and I’m at Tamworth parkrun on the same day as you I’ll bring them

I bought them for equinox and they helped a lot on that hill!

Aluminium will bend, and might be straighten-outable (in the field) under the same loads where carbon will snap.

If you buy poles with replaceable sections they can easily be repaired, but obviously only once you get home.

Yes, I think Aluminium are better if you are going to give them a hard time on rock/road, as jacdaw says, carbon can snap and then be useless.

I used their carbon ones for the SDW50 and they were great, so light and easy to pack, but that was mainly grass and mud trails.

That's useful information. Thanks, @jacdaw .

I have a very cheap pair of poles that I bought from Decathlon. Thinking about investing in decent replacements for taking on holiday. Particularly next summer when we'll be (hopefully) doing a fair bit of walking in Iceland.

Really useful thanks, now to decide if I take the risk for the pretty red poles

If I get collapsing again problems with my harrier carbons *
Alpkit do a very light carbon pair that are cheaper, They were not in stock when I was in Keswick last month or I may well have got them then.

*I like them but the pushy button to straighten/collapse isn't very good and the rubber hand grips are peeling/crumbling despite not really being used as such, the weight/grip is all on the strap.
Harrier said they were more than a year old so not interested in helping/repair/replacing. (I broke one from my first pair of aluminium ones and they wouldn't replace or mend that either)

Just shell out for the Mountain King ones; they will replace individual sections / parts / single poles, and you can fix them yourself. They are held together with a single cord. Not adjustable, so get the right size! Made in the UK (in Newcastle).

Maybe I return the carbon ones and look elsewhere, I know you recommended the MK ones just after I ordered the Harrier's.

The non adjustable's worried me knowing what size I needed. Or I stick with my current catbells ones which work just fine for the infrequent use.

That sounds better @Jackdaw

Harrier have a seemingly great reputation for customer service, but I have found them unhelpful.
