I have some Harrier UK CatBells poles debating whether to upgrade to the carbon poles so testing the water to see if they may be of interest and if anyone has any advice if carbon is better than aluminium would be appreciated too.

@geordiegirl I assume that the ones you have are regular size and not the long ones?

@Gooner these are the ones I have (the older version ones) harrierrunfree.co.uk I don't know if I am better keeping the aluminium ones or if the carbon ones will be ok for some road running - I used my poles at Meriden this year which was all road - heard that carbon are better suited to trails.... I've not opened the carbon ones yet just in case. |

Ah, well I can't offer any advice as I don't know much about them myself but if you did decide to swap them for an upgrade, I'd be interested in the old ones for Equinox next year, I'd already considered getting a pair.

Fragile Xmas Ornament
Have a look at the recent post on the Harrier Trail and Ultra running facebook group. Someone managed to snap a pole and it sparked a discussion on the relative merits of carbon and aluminium poles.

thanks Fragile, I have emailed them for advice. Gooner, I am thinking as the event's I have are mainly road or have road sections it may be that I return the carbon's I bought them thinking they would be stronger and the weight saving and thinner poles would be a bit easier to carry when not using them. (what do I know) but if I decide to keep them you have have first dibbs on the old ones. |
