Good news on the lifejacket front, Angus. My senior manager, who I've known in some form for 30 years, was *really* surprised to hear I was taking proper canoeing instruction. I guess he really does know me pretty well by now

That last comment, including smiley, was aimed at Recoil BTW

Hi Recoil,
I coach at RLSCC, we're very friendly. Drop me a line, if you like.

I am trying to get into it... the sport, not actually finding it difficult to get into one.

It wasn't that cold last night so I was surprised to be scraping through a fine skim of ice this morning! Definitely a day & temperature not to make a mess of getting into or out of the kayak

Cracking paddle round Isle of Eriskay today. 7 of us (nearly the entire club!). About 4 hours round, with an exposed first half down the east side of the island. Round the headland then a freshening wind pushing back in. Lots of grey seals and a golden eagle. Then under the causeway bridge and back in for much needed tea and flapjack.
Timed it right- wind has now veered to SE 5-7 with driving rain....
