Nellers, I certainly do admire anyone who can finish a DW - but then to go back when you know what you're in for? That's a special kind of mental ;-)

3 DWs is, indeed, a proper achievement. Nellers is actually quite respectable, on the quiet.

It really was. One of my fondest memories to this day is having my arse massaged on Putney Hard in the early hours of Easter Saturday morning. It's a tough event.

I go kayaking at least once a week, although the weather is getting a little cooler now for my liking. But my paddling is slow on lakes rather than rivers and I like the slow quiet backwaters of the lakes best as I get to see lots of wildlife.

However i can apreciate the DW and any race event as my son was on the junior GB start team about 10 years ago (omg im getting so old!)

Parkrun done, now off to the SW Canoe show, see if I can find some must have paddle-faster, exit-the-boat-more-cleanly kit!

A year without a capsize drill? Blimey, am impressed! I was made to do one within two hours of first getting in a kayak on Carsington Water. Just as well, because on my first foray into moving water I had to do it for real. I never found it all that scary, the actual being underwater bit was over almost before I knew it was happening.

Loved it, in a rubbish-at-it-but-don't care sort of way, but I wasn't really able to keep it up and haven't been in a plastic peapod for about seven years. The main deterrent to having another go is that the last thing we need at home is another sport with an expensive kit-list.

V'rap - capsize drill easily dodged if you just get your own boat & don't join a.club or see the need for BCU 1 star paperwork... Plus I'm a bit *simple* with regard to h&s, which helps :-)
Anyway error of ways now seen (I.e. been worn down by knowledgeable friends' nagging) so its all in hand.
Plastic buckets at dawn then!
