You're not the only one and it's not just rowing! I find that counting lengths in the pool gets more difficult as I get more tired, to the point where I've set off to do a 100m piece (out and back twice) and stopped halfway because I lost count!

First physio appointment booked for after work today so we'll see how that goes. In truth the back feels pretty much fine at the mo so not sure what's going to go on this evening. I still haven't dared get back on the Erg though!

So what's the physio's verdict? Hold on for a while or good to go?

First off he says I’m not doing any sort of physical damage to anything because if I was I wouldn’t r cover from each flare up so quickly.

I’ve got to do a slow mo video of me rowing with my shirt off from the back and the side so he can see how my back is moving and I’m back to see him next week and work out a plan to manage the issue.

He’s talking about 6-8 weeks of work to get things properly right and he thinks we’ll be able to minimise the time out if/when it does go again.

Fairly hopeful, all things considered.

Sounds positive overall, esp the bit about not doing physical damage.

Good luck!

Anothers of the Nellers-recommended 16-12-8-4 minute sessions this morning, done at 20 spm 2k+18, 22 spm 2k+15, 24 spm 2k+12, and 26 spm 2k+9. These just fly by. With warmup you get a good 10k and much more fun than just grinding out the distance.

I've been out in the back garden with my shirt off while the missus does slow mo video of me.

Unfortunately I'm not starting a lucrative modelling career but at least the physio will be able to see what he's working with when I go and see him on Tuesday.

I managed about 2.5k in total and didn't have any back issues while I was rowing, so that's good, and it did feel great to be back on the Erg.
