Pushed my luck a bit this morning. 750m done! Still not problems so I think Sunday will be a 1k row.

Day 22 done. Had to take it a bit easier today. I think the pace will continue to drop from here on

I did 10,000 metres this morning and the logbook tells me it's rank.

I thought it was quite a good workout.

Sadly, after day 23, I've been forced to end the challenge. I suffered a broken nose last week in a boating accident. I've been able to row through it all week but today, the doctor has reset my nose and I have to say, it blimmin' hurts.

So as the sessions are getting longer, I've had to make the decision to stop. I did consider splitting the rows into 2 or even 3 sets but now we've got back from the hospital, that isn't an option.

I'd hoped to get through this week and then I saw that May's C2 challenge is for a half marathon (and dare I mention a marathon and a 50K), but running will hopefully be back on the table soon with marathon training due to start at the end of May.

Still plan to row regularly again though for some cross training. I've got the bug again so I won't be a stranger.

Hope the nose heals well and doesn't cause you any long term breathing issues, Dave. Well done on keeping that run going as long as you did. I think you've got a valid excuse to stop now.

And at the other end of the scale I managed 1km this morning without any problems so the slow progress is still progressing.

Oh no, that's a bummer Dave. But it was a great run while it lasted and you now know that you can handle the long stuff. Not a wasted effort.

A rare crap workout for me this morning. Supposed to be 4 x 1500 metres alternating at 22-24-26 and 24-26-28 spm per 500. But the 3rd rep was hard going and I struggled on the last one and bailed out halfway through. No idea why, just felt lethargic. Never mind, onwards and upwards. The next workout will be storming :-)

Oh no! Sorry to hear that Dave - ouch! Still super-impressive what you've achieved this month.

Today is day 16 of no rowing for me. The cold/illness/lurgy is getting better, but long, busy days mean that Thursday will be the next chance to get back in the saddle.

This says it all :-(

It’s nice to see a few different names on the list of Daily Champions.

I will be back though. Marathon training begins on May 30th but I see that there is the C2 challenge in May to row a half marathon so will probably so that.

And then to try and run more and keep a bit of rowing going. I was thinking to trying the WOD a couple of times a week just to keep things fresh and different. Anyone had any joy with these?

Tbh I find WoD somewhat uninspiring. Like today: short is row 4 x 4 mins, medium is 5 x 6 minutes, and that's it. Long row is a bit better: 60 mins with rate changing between 22 and 24. I like to have a bit more structure and a bit of guidance on pacing, although I guess I should know by now roughly where my spm's are relative to 2k pace.

I tend to loosely follow training plans, adapting to suit myself and usually interspersing workouts with longer UT pieces. Currently doing the Rowalong 10k plan, more or less.
