Thanks Muttley, my 1m T-shirt fitted well and seemed to be decent quality, it's kept its shape. Mind you mine was only 2019, yours would have been 10+ years ago!?
10k per day, six days a week for half a year and you're at 15 mill in 15 years 😉😁
Haha it does sound doable but things rarely go to plan as we all know within this group. 16 mill in 16 years sounds good! I like the longer slower stuff myself these days 😁
Annoying how quickly form deteriorates during a layoff. I was either out of action or on greatly reduced duties for about a month. My usual calculation is twice the layoff duration to regain 90% of where you were before, and then one more to squeeze out that last 10%. Which would mean I should be at the 90% level by the end of the year ... seems about right. And that's the NY resolution sorted.
That does sound like a good session, Muttley. 40 minutes, no breaks, pace building. You're going to be sweating by the end!
I've got back into a bit of a rhythm again. Trying to get 3 sessions per week done, all rate based: short intervals, long intervals, tempo pieces. Seems to be sustainable with the other stuff I'm doing.
Also, while I'm here, it might be interesting to follow this on YouTube for a while. Cam Buchan, elite rower formerly with the GB squad, sharing his training with "an average gym-goer" for the the week.
Day 1: 10 x 10 deadlifts at a weight that's heavy, followed by 16km steady row, followed by an hour steady bike. Good luck with that then!
I went to the gym tonight and braved a 2k row. It was slow but felt hard 😂 9mins 19secs. It's a starting point. I'm doing it as a test which I will redo in 8 weeks time so hoping to get a bit better 🤞 Also as part of the testing is a 30 secs max echo bike and a 5k run which also be retested in 8 weeks but is t of much interest on this thread. I'm following a programme from wodprep which is crossfit based. I really found the dark horse rowing YouTube videos helpful for technique though 😊
Is the 8 week training block mainly cardio or is it an all-round CrossFit programme leading up to the retest? How much rowing is there in it? I'll certainly be curious to see how that works for you.
(And I've never had a go on an echo bike/assault bike but I really want to. That's the downside of training in my shed rather than a gym or CrossFit box.)
