Outlaw .... Torrential rain or heat wave

Was heat wave in 2013 when I DNF

L100/50 is same weekend and usually heatwave breaking into torrential rain at some point - it's usually the first weekend of school hols, so that explains it.
Last forecast I looked at wasn't too bad, sounds like it's changed :(

I'm still 1lb over the lowest I got to, but that's OK, I've stopped going up and settled without running for a whole week. Just need to hang on to this for another 10 days or so.

OK, here is a thought Pix: tape small bits of masking tape to your top tube, with times on it. Take a few swigs, remove bit of tape... 45 minutes later: swigs, remove tape... Does that make sense? I feel you can realky do with something that reminds you to eat?
The 12 hr race I won, they had a gel wrapper station in the woods. A sign that said gel wrapper area imminent. I would take my gel, dump the wrapper trailside where they collected them... And that was 45 minute laps! It worked to perfection...

I mimicked that with my taped gels with 45 minute intervals on them...

And you will need to drink more... I would ad in some extra water, with himalayan or sea salt dissolved into it. Only a pinch, not loads, it should taste ever so slightly salty.

my plan was 500ml sports drink and at least 1 gel and hour

I find taking solids harder for some reason
waiting for race pack to confirm feed-station details
at the half they reduced it from 2 to 1 and it was a "drive through" so dismount and help yourself with volunteers just keeping tables stocked up

I could not take solids!
It was unheard of someone racing 12 hours on just fluids, i.e. drink and gels, then I did a 24 hr on just fluids...

That sounds about right by the way Pix. Stick to it rel8giously, whether you feel like it or not. When you skip a gel that is where you "loose" the race...
