I ran to work this morning (7 miles) 90% of the people I saw were within the first couple of miles, so I would have been just as likely to come across as many people in a 2 mile jog.

Mine has survived fine, not overdoing it though. Live in a small village with access to quiet country lanes and paths in every direction.

JennyWren is bang on "Iโm sticking to an hour or less and gentle running, no intervals or hills, nothing risky re falling over or compromising my immune system by overtraining." Don't do a suicide by screwing the immune system - when you can run 7 days a week at 6min/mile you can ask to run more...

Gentle 10k s early in the morning is what I'm planning now that I'm officially WFH, I don't usually see many people when I do those, hopefully this will be no different.

For me about 1 hour gentle running feels about right but planning to alternate with gentle cycling, probably for up to 2 hours.

Sigh
So, my running dilemma: is it better to run on (a) less popular (but narrow) paths where you're less likely to meet anyone, but if you do it's harder to maintain a 2 metre gap, or (b) more popular (but wider) paths where there will be more people but much easier to maintain a clear 2 metre gap?

um
Struggling with a name for this - but have blog pic'd our shortish run today. A 'Boris Bimble' ? Or 'Covid Canter' ? And hopefully, a 'Germfree Jog'. We stuck to running from home, rather than the short drive to the NF, but as you can see (apart from the first mile being uphill*), it's not a great hardship. fetcheveryone.com/blog/43889 (*That mile is made up for by the last 1.5 miles being predominantly downhill.) |

Sigh: choosing the time when the fewest people are 'out there' might also be factored in. I'd go for the 'wider' option, so that you can divert with impunity.

With less food and a daily exercise window I could well end up fitter at the end of this. Weird how I'm more likely to run when my access to it is restricted. I'm going for maximum an hour a day, locally only, with added indoor youtube yoga sessions. I'm slow so won't be going far!
