The biggest disappointment for me about this series were the promo features showing how some parts were filmed using green screen and CGI. I know that a lot of this is computer generated, I’m not naive enough to believe otherwise, but I don’t want to be reminded that it’s not real.
I went off Murder In Paradise when I learned that the tame gecko was CGI 🙁

Oh, I really like the ‘making of’ type things. The amount of effort they put in to make stuff look real is amazing.

I wouldn’t mind so much seeing something like that after I’ve seen the film/series, but beforehand removes the magic for me.

I went off Death (sic) in Paradise when I realised they were recycling the same plot week in week out! But the gecko was quite well done for CGI.

The gecko’s not real? It’s my favourite character.

Death in Paradise is just Rastamouse with people. But not as realistic.

But it's not quite as formulaic as New Tricks, which my offspring quite unreasonably enjoy nearly as much as Death in Paradise. Anyway, back to HDM...

I can't stand any 'how we did this' stuff on any program, but especially wildlife, I am seriously not interested, show me some more stuff of the animals, and always seems to me an exercise in elongating screen time.
Everything, almost everything is CGI trickery, so why bother showing me, not interested, stop it, or put it in a program I can ignore.

'Rastamouse' presents a more nuanced approach to recidivism.
