well done lums, some really fast times there, imagine what you would have done on the flat with no turns. Looking good for sunday.

I see it was a typical session for you though, change your mind half way through!!!!! I have started doing that a bit more now!!!

Have felt really tierd these last few days. Tues is club night, had thought about not going and just doing a steady short run on my own instead. However, I have missed last week due to a parents eve and often meet with a couple of friends early for a warm up and good gossip!! decided I would meet with them to do a few miles first then if WU was rubbish just do a couple more on my own and go home. Actually felt much better after the WU so stayed.

The running club run felt slower than usual so was quite pleased. When I checked mr garmin though it was actually faster than usual whcih is most odd. I think maybe cos I didnt do my usual hills on mon so there is something in this resting lark!!!!

It's not so much changing the session hellen, it's about upping the effort. I had planned 4m at 8:20 but it was one of those days where I just couldn't settle into a stride pattern. It was either 8:50 or 7:50.

YOU NEED TO REST!

hellen - taper HARD!
You could pretty much do NO running between now and the marathon, and you'd lose hardly any conditioning!
You can EASILY do too much though :)

Bob!
10.84miles, 1:48:39, 10:01 pace, 58% WHR. Pre FLM Taper Run.

this inclded a Lums stylee 1/2 mile up a steepish Hill at 8.02 pace after 9 miles.

Am I getting any training benefits from running at 58% WHR?

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
