You have a decent running history in your legs, so you Long runs could be done up to a HR of 158bpm

Anything else you want to know???
:)

I assume your MaxHR is a tested one and NOT a calculated one!

Han it's dead easy to do, you just have two numbers to remember as ElBee has shown you.

I agree with elbee the MAX test should be a proper max test and not a calulated one.

Yep, tested heartrate, done in 2005, when I had started out running and bought a cheap heartrate monitor I subsequently never used :-) Ran hard and fast intervals for the purpose until I virtually collapsed...

Thanks eLBee, that saves me calculating :-) I have always hated it, I am much better in languages than with figures :-)

Eeek, it has gone pitchblack outside and there is a storm raging, should I be afraid?

It'll be a pretty accurate one then!
Perhaps to be repeated at some point - as it's 2 years old, but probably not necessary

So I used my HRM the other day for a 3 km run to see if I was up to doing a tri the next day. Was running at a hr of 150 doing just over 5 min/k's. That seems inconsistent then... as 5min/k is not supposed to be easy for me, it is race pace! So is my coach right and am I not pushing hard enough in races and can I be a lot faster if I want?

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
