Girlie
Another excellent 8 miles for me today. avg HR 141(65%) pace 11:55/mi

I do seem to be getting quicker for the same or less effort and once again no battle with the Garmin.
Whether it was as simple as being shown how to d it last week, when I went out for a slow mince with WW, or whether it has just clicked I don't know, but hope the streak continues.

Was cruising along at around 11:00 pace at one point, which is the slower of my intended MP's, so think the sub 5hr marathon is looking more of a reality now.

anyway feeling very happy, didn't want to turn round and come home today.

Back to the full week next week LSR of 15 miles.

I know Ian, thats 4 in a row now! Not knocking it though, just hope I can keep the streak going!

It is as if the light may have finally been turned on! I did find I could push things slightly and not overshoot the 70% mark(149 bpm)

You're doing great, Girlie! :-)

I managed a 10.5k this morning but it was a mixture...the first 7 or so at my friend's 70%, and then we split up and I continued at my slightly faster pace for 70%.

I, too, feel I may be turning the corner and beginning to see some very humble beginnings of porgress! Both calves are a bit tight and needing TLC today, so it's probably just as well that I won't get to do much while we're on hols for the next week or so!

Girlie - thats great.

I woke late this morning which meant i was out running at noon, oh yes very Noel Coward ;)

Very surprised as it was hot ran 4.1 miles, my short course. Expected to be slower/higher HR but averaged 6:41 per km which is normal. HR rose a little towards end of run but remained under 70% (68%)

Thats 2 good runs on the trot, i'm hoping too that i am starting to see some results

Planning on a longer run tomorrow,

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
