I've heard that the fitter you are, the harder it is to reach your absolute max. I reckon a good bet is to add 2-3 BPM on your recorded max.

Interesting trend forming in my twice weekly runs at 80% max. The Tuesday runs are always a wee bit faster and at a we bit lower HR than their FRiday equivalent. Noit sure ahy, possibly because Monday is currently a rest day

Today was 1bpm higher and 7 secs per mile slower than Tuesday.

Bazoaxe. I think there are far too many things that affect heart rate day to day that the differences you're noticing is probably not very significant

Is there a book on HADD ? I think I've seen Hal Higdon

I'm confused which one to follow for training plan but I have P&F 😉.

My new HRM Run seems good it is saying my HR Is lower than I'm expecting unless I'm getting fitter which my latest runs (45 min 10k and 1.42 half is suggesting) although I didn't wear a HRM in those (is this wrong ???)

I basically wear it for all other runs

HOD, try this thread for HADD http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=31192 I don't think there's a book, but there's links in the sidebar to relevant PDFs.

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
