Think tackledirect2u.co.uk was cheapest when discussed recently on FRA forums

Please post what you think when you've had a run out with it. I have a Hope 2 LED torch but find it heavy and uncomfortable on my (bald) head

Hi Ive just bought a LED Lenser H7 headtorch, as its much brighter than the headtorch I used on the TP 100 (I was only buddy running the second half) What sort of duration are people getting from the lamp on full beam, and how much dimming do you normally run with? On full beam its four times more powerful than the Energizer 7 led headtorch I have been using to date.

exflyboy I ran the TP100 and alternated between a Silva Trail Runner which is ok but the battery life really let me down and on the middle setting, and a Energizer 3 cheap job from Argos two days before the race. Ther Energizer beat the more expensive Silva hands down overall with a better battery life and a decent spread.....................

However I ran with another runner for approx 20 miles and his torch trounced both of mine put together...................yep he had a LED H7. It's gone on my xmas wish list already!!

I haven't used the H7 enough to get a good idea of how long it lasts at different beam strengths. I tore a calf muscle just after it arrived, and the evenings were getting lighter by the time it had healed enough to run on.

On the road, or at least familiar roads, I was using it dimmed well down, but off-road turned right up! Probably what you might expect, so not very helpful...

It certainly seems comfortable and well balanced to wear, although the controls are a bit fiddly with cold hands / gloves.

I've got a Petzl Tikka and an Alpkit Gamma. I much prefer the Tikka but have to put it over a headband as I've got silky, slippery hair. Tonight I ran with a small group but without a head torch, just to see how much difference it made. At the end we were running a short race through woods and I liked the feeling of not relying on a torch, just my eyes.

petzl are releasing a new headtorch later this year which is beyond awesome, I got a look at one a couple o weeks ago. It's called the NAO, it is a reactive torch that senses how much reflective ambient light there is around you, wether that is trail/rock/tree reflection or urban lights, and adjusts the beam setting imeadiatley without the need for switches or random hand waving.. it is a must for longer/night events and winter running later in the year.

it runs on a lithium battery set up which is usb rechargable. this is def on my list of future purchases, and will replace my ever trusted and faithfull Tikka2

And will we require a 2nd mortgage for this new torch UC? Half the ones people go on about on the fra forums are ridiculously expensive. Hope R4 costing £250 or an Alpkit for £12.50. I've managed to do night orienteering with the latter comfortably.

USB rechargeable is good but what happens if you're out on a race for 2 nights? Just ordered anew one myself the other day. Hoping to test it out at the weekend.
If I knew hot to copy & paste on an iPad I would give you the link.
It's a Zweibruder LED Lenser H14 kopflampe 7499
