in 2015, they measured the course and knew that 2013, 2014 and 2015 were all short, and now they tell us..after they won marathon of the year twice in a row?

I don't know anything about the award..., maybe that's it. I expect they needed a bit of time after October to figure out the 'why' behind it all (wrong calibration). Maybe they requested it be announced after this years event to avoid negative publicity in the lead-up to it (presumably thinking that 2016 was going to go well ;-))

Sorry, I was a bit sloppy with my use of 'they'.
"they needed a bit of time after October" - I'm referring to the course measurement association.
"maybe they requested it be announced after this year's event" - meaning GMM organisation.
By all means ask the marathon team for a statement, though.

It does feel like they buried the news until after the 2016 race was run.
Difficult position for the organisers, its not them that mis-measured it, its the nerdy officials who are supposed to get this spot on right!

this is unbelievable in all honesty, how can it have taken them so long? It was so obvious to everyone who ran the events. We may not have wanted to have admitted it but we all knew.
I remember running in with PSi (from 2:45 thread) in 2013, he was the 3:15 pacer and he was totally embarrassed, thinking he'd screwed his pacing up. We just couldn't understand it.
There are going to be a lot of furious people out there right now. Particularly given that Po10 has been updated to SHORTMar.

I can't feel that much sympathy for them larkim given other aspects of their "organisation"
I remember Nelly mentioned that they didn't move the start even though the route to the new finish was clearly further which now makes sense

Presumably the 2015 results won't count for GFA etc now either?
