Now I realise why I missed the Reaper. I was being fit. I saw the ladies with their signs first.

Well done everyone, lots of great running yesterday from folk on here. Unfortunate that injury struck me just before the race and I had to miss it.
I'd like to thank Nelly for once again having a great race thread - from right away back in early May last year, he's always been first with any news, and providing lenthusiasm and ocal info for those that don't know the area. A great ambassador for the GMM. Well done Nelly

Nelly has been great I shan't be back at this marathon for sometime, if ever. Nothing wrong with the Marathon, I just prefer scenery if I'm going to be a long time. Well done and thank you to Nelly for all the effort:)

Agree with what has been said about Nelly. Been a great help to myself and our relay teams at work. All that despite moaning about my training to him.

Hi everyone, well I completed my first marathon in 4hrs 40mins - not trying to over analyse it too much but the lack of training in the 5 weeks prior due to the injury definitely hampered my performance (and confidence I think). Went out too fast at the beginning - was at the 3:58 pacer at mile 9 and realised gone too fast. So pleased though to have done it! Will I do one again? Probably not. I enjoy going out really hard in races, and the restraint in marathons I find tough - I constantly want to leg it! Well done to everyone who did it too, and to those who got PB's.

Thanks all, but as I think I said last year, I do it for selfish reasons as I love waking up on marathon morning in my own bed at a relatively civilised time, so want the event to stay a success
Snogard, nobody could ever accuse GMM of being scenic ! (although the course was a bit better in 2012 when it passed through Dunham Massey)

Yes thanks to Nelly for me too - even more impressed that you stopped and helped the poor bloke that fell! I've done three Manchesters in a row now, think it might be time for a change! Though if I ever decide to go for a GFA time, Manchester would be my first choice!
