Captain Malcolm Reynolds
Most disappointing gig was
Alter Bridge/Shinedown/Halestorm a few years back. Halestorm were superb, lively, powerful, energetic, engaging. Shinedown were fronted by a shiteclown who was more interested in flapping his gums between songs than getting on with a gig. Alter Bridge were so boring, absolutely dire, we left after 5 songs.

Closely followed by Graham Bonnet’s set a Stonedeaf this year. He relied a vocal backing track for the high notes, his patter between songs was embarrassing. In Graham’s case the mighty have fallen.

The most disappointing gig i have been too was Echo & The Bunnymen. It was the 3rd time i had been to see them and i swear Ian McCulloch was as pissed as a handcart. He was awful.
The best gigs i have been too are probably, Ash, Feeder, The Mission, Frank Turner, Stereophonics and the Manics. Not necessarily in that order

And i saw the reformed Macc Lads in my local British Legion club recently and they are superb. About 8 pints of guinness, several rums and a room full of old men reliving their youths and you can't go wrong!!!!

I've not disliked any of my gig experiences this year, though Julian Casablancas played for the least amount of time.

Best this year? A toss up between Arcade Fire and Decemberists. Loved both shows.

Decemberists put on a good show, as do Arcade Fire, although not seen them since the Suburbs tour

AF were on at Wembley Arena which can be a bit of a giant shed, but at least they played in the round in the centre of the hall so that wherever you were you got some sort of a view.

gcw, I saw Echo & the Bunnymen, supported by the Buzzcocks. Buzzcocks were great. E&tB looked really cool coming on stage, but that was the peak, shabby set punctuated by McCulloch swearing a lot about how they were definitely the best band ever out of Liverpool & way better than the sodding Beatles. I'm not getting into arguments about who the best band out of Liverpool is, but on the evidence of that night he was definitely wrong on both counts. Left early to miss the cab queue.

I've only ever walked out of one gig and that was MGNT. They were awful... refused to even look at the crowd. Most of the crowd left half way through.

Not counting festival appearances - where all kinds of old cack can be seen - one of the poorest I've seen was The Coral early in their career, performing on the back of their first two albums and one mini-album. They were technically excellent, note perfect but they had no engagement with the audience at all. Might have been a mumbled 'thanks' between a couple of the songs but that was it. No encore, no rapport, no personality.

That reminds me of Pete and the Pirates McG, went along on a friend's recommendation and was very underwhelmed
