Yes, pricey, I read reports that said best ever. I thought they were almost the same as ever, as in very good. A bit of an old fan though, saw them lots mid eighties, then again mid nineties, then again mid 2000s.
They did a huge mixture of things across their many years, so not all that I wanted, but as I said I like them.

Joopsy I hear you on venues and £££s and dickhead counts. The £££ is really just a function of nobody-makes-money-from-albums-anymore. Venues that used to be cheap (Brixton Academy £20-25) are now not cheap (£40+ at the same venue). I've had plenty of run-ins with pissed up twats at gigs recently, but worse are the women or shorter men who take exception to having people stand in front of them. It's a stand-up gig, it's sold out, you can't expect to reserve a patio on which to stand view-uninterrupted.
As for Hooky, conversely I know folk that refuse to go and see New Order now because without Hook they're nothing; I've seen him 3 times doing various albums and it's certainly not a phoned-in lazy tribute cash-in, he means it man. Also thoroughly recommend his 3 books (on JD, the Hacienda, NO), I thought they were all great.

We clearly have different views Fitz, I thought his book on the hacienda was bullshit.
I think its more about the bands sometimes than the venue, 90's bands all seem to be making a killing from their grown up middle aged following whereas you can see someone at Brixton for circa £25 who are appealing to a younger audience.
I know people who love Hooky BTW the way and have friends who are designers who says he gives them loads of publicity and support for nothing in return. I'm just a judgemental twat sometimes.

TRO Todd and alligator dodger
Probably the first crossover star of the Premier League era, but for heavens sake he should have kept his short on when celebrating FA Cup semi final wondergoals....

"Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Yorkshire"
The worst thing about watching large gigs in Sheffield!!
I've mostly bought tickets and then not gone this year :/ Gaz Brookfield was the last non-attended gig. Think Keston Cobblers Club were the previous ones.
In terms of cost. Someone showed me the price of the cheapest seating tickets for Fleetwood Mac at Wembley Stadium...…………….
£240!!

The twat-count probably depends on the band as well - lots of twats at Interpol, very few twats at Decemberists

For £240 I'd expect to be invited on stage to sing a duet with em

For the seats in question you wouldn't even be able to see them with the naked eye!!
Think we calculated c.£19m from ticket sales alone.

Second that. Seen both and Interpol always attracts a disproportionate number of jerks.

I'd have gone to see Death Cab back in my gigging days - ears are wrecked now, even with ear plugs, so i'll miss them this time.
