Yea, I'm at that Frank Turner gig too, should be fun! I just don't get pretty much all his albums, but live it makes so much sense!

Jacob Alon was great at the Caves in Edinburgh last night. I think they maybe squeezed a few too many people in though as it was very hot and stuffy throughout and Jacob stopped his set at one point to help someone who had fainted near the front. Good support too from locally based acts Flame and Giant Hogweed. Quite a lot for a school night. |

Young Knives at the Bullingdon, Oxford. A homecoming gig for a tour promoting their new album. Such a great live band. |

Has anyone seen bands at The Robin, near Wolverhampton? Wondering what the venue is like and may indulge my long-buried penchant for prog rock. Jadis, 30 March: last saw them in the Marquee in 1989 supporting IQ and I'm curious. Lots on Spotify, though sadly not this one which was my favourite |

But many many years ago so my insights are worthless, way out of date and lost to the mists of time. Seem to recall it was a small intimate venue with a low stage and reminiscent of The Musician in Leicester. Sunday evening gig and it was effectively dead - except myself, 2 mates, and what seemed ony half a dozen others. Had a damn good night though! *To see Mick Pointer (original drummer / founder of Marillion) perform Script for a Jester's Tear with a band consisting of Nick Barrett (Pendragon), Brian Cummins (Carpet Crawlers), Ian Salmon (Arena), John Varty (various prog bands). |

Forgot to say, I saw Jadis support Marillion at Nottingham Theatre Royal circa 1988. They were a decent enough opener but I never really got into them subsequently.

Paul Heaton has a plan to try and play a gig in every county on the island of Ireland. Part of the plan involves playing the Ardhowen theatre in Enniskillen so he can tick off Fermanagh. It holds 290 people. After a few nervous minutes watching my little green man move along the queue to get onto the Ardhowen website this morning I managed to get one of the last handful of tickets. A ticket for Paul Heaton and no need to deal with Ticketmaster. That’s the best morning I have had for quite some time.
