My daughters a big Divorce fan, I'm not so sure.
Idles announced a surprise album launch show in Leeds this week. Managed to grab a couple of tickets, so looking forward to that tonight.

Well, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets were supposed to be playing Koko in London last night but they've had to cancel their whole European tour after only a couple of dates because lead singer Jack was bitten on the face by a dog! (In Leeds, I think.) He's had surgery on his jaw as a result and reckons he won't be able to talk properly for a fortnight never mind sing. Poor guy.

Drove 90 mins to the launch of the Yard Act album in a small venue in Kingston. They played for 40 mins (they were playing twice). It was totally 100% worth it. They were amazing and we were dead close. New songs are ace.

Was that at Pryzm, LindsD? A cool venue for these sort of shows I'm looking forward to checking out the new album!

It was. I'd never been there and expected it to be like the clubs of my youth. Was very pleasantly surprised.

I assume for 40 mins (& presumably no support) you don't pay full concert price?

Shows are put on by Banquet Records (delightful record shop in Kingston) and you generally get a CD + gig ticket for about £15 so if you were buying the album anyway its pretty good value.

I just checked back through my emails and yes, I went to see The Big Moon do an album launch in 2022. It was £20, they did 10 songs (6 from the new album) and you got a copy of it included in the price.

We paid £13 and I got an email this morning offering me the CD for £2. And parking was free. I thought about the CD but then thought I'd only play it in the car and it will then end up in the ocean. I'll buy a digital download if such a thing exists. Billy bought some vinyl. And we were closer to the front that I would ever be at a 'normal' gig for such a band.
