Garmin Status - what does Garmin say about you today?!

metoffice.gov.uk There are 4 Met Office stations close to here; 3 are automatic, 1 is manual. The 3 automatic ones are: Keele (10.6 miles away), Thorncliffe (19.3 miles away) and Nantwich (22 miles away). We are 100m above sea level; Keele station is 179m above sea level, Thorncliffe is 298m and Nantwich is 40m. So of the three closest weather stations, Garmin are choosing the one which is twice as far as the nearest one and treble the height above sea level. Every single time. Why not use Keele?? |

Yes, i don't get this, i googled and there are load of official weather stations all around, so on what criteria are Garmin making the selection 40km/25 miles away..

Yes, probably something like that, and probably a cost issue. But still strange to kill a mesure like that with poor data. |

I've also been given the weather for East Midlands Airport, which is 9 miles from where I ran. I looked at my run from Tuesday, when I was at home - and that uses weather station 03560, which is also at an airfield. I would agree with EP - I guess that they have an agreement to access a subset of weather stations. |

I've searched the Garmin Forums, which led me to a chat, which led me to widgets in ConnectIQ where you can use Open Weather data: or But, you need to get a free API Key from the Open Weather site; not done that yet. |
