If I'm having trouble syncing from my watch to my phone, I generally find that power cycling one (or both) resolves it.

Anyone else having issues uploading from a Garmin Fenix 5s today? Tried to sync it and it's stuck on "transferring" with the ring going round and round. It hasn't crashed, I can exit by pressing the usual button. If it's just me, I'll go and slog through Google search results and find out what's going on.

Fixed it in the end by uninstalling, unpairing, and then starting again. But odd, but no harm done!

If you've got an old activity in Garmin connect (mobile) and you want to send it to your watch so you can use it for virtual pacer type use, how do you do it? I can't see an obvious "send to watch" option anywhere.

You could save it as a course, then create a PacePro and select that course for the pacepro.

I've not got pace pro on my watch unfortunately (645).

Presumably I could download and transfer with a pc but that's not convenient at the moment.

How old, is it not still on the watch if you select Race an Activity from History ?

No, it's from a few years ago on a different watch.

So found nothing in the app to make this happen. Via the website though *in theory* there is the right option ("Send activity to device") but after a few goes and lots of syncing it doesn't seem to appear. A bit odd. I can't imagine it's that unusual a scenario to want to do?

My old watch only held 7 days of history, but also didn't have the option to race a previous activity. Now my current one does, but only if that activity happened in the last 6 months or so where the history is retained up to.

I know we should all run naturally and probably without watches, but it is sometimes nice to use the tech as designed.

As it happened, on the 6 mile race I did yesterday that I wanted to compare to my 2019 pacing, I got to 3 miles within 2s of the pace I did 3 years ago, even though it was a course where pace per mile varied by more than 60s per mile due to the up and down nature of it.

larkim I just loaded what you are trying to do onto an Epix. I went to GC website, found an activity from a year ago, told it to send to device, saw that there was one item waiting to sync, pressed sync on the watch, made sure the watch synced, then looked on the watch. It did not show up under Activities history. Instead, it showed up under Courses. So if you select Run, Navigation, Courses then you should find it. It seems like this will NOT act like a Virtual Partner and give you a second by second in-front or behind reading, but I haven't actually tried running it

Thanks NordRunner Oddly it doesn't even seem to appear under courses. Were you plugging your watch into the PC or were you doing the website stuff and then separately letting the mobile app complete the sync?

I'll not need this for a while, but there is a 10 mile race in the summer that I've run a few times and I'd definitely like to pace myself against a previous effort so I'll keep plugging away at finding a way to do this!
