It might ignore some types, although I think not and any unknowns are classed as cross-training. Walks definitely import. To ask the daft question ... are you sure your log is showing all training types, as I seem to remember it can just show runs and walks are cross-training. (This may have changed - I've not used the training log in anger for years)

I did a test walk yesterday and that pushed through. I now presume it is a problem getting historical stuff over which is no biggy in that case.

rhb, historical files don't come across automatically, so you have to manually add them to Fetch. That mentions a bit about what is needed to get started.

Likely this is a very stupid or at least niche question.

Is it possible to ignore the HR from a red Garmin chest strap (I actually trust the optical built in one more due to static issues) but still get the running dynamics stuff? So the watch would show optical HRM whilst connected to the running dynamics bit of the strap HRM, if that makes sense.

Not sure, maybe choose using hr from watch but I guess you already checked that. Maybe easier to use Garmins Running Dynamics Pod instead.

I think that would be the only way to do it, yup.

How can you choose HR from watch? I thought it auto disabled the watch HR when an external HR was connected? I might be missing something obvious!!

Sorry, meant using the RDP to get the dynamics. There are CIQ fields that will pick up HR from a strap that isnโ€™t paired so you can have both the watch and a strap logged, but I donโ€™t know of any way of getting the dynamics from an unpaired/disabled strap, and a paired enabled strap will override the watch.

Ah ok. Yes, I already use the aux HR field which is what's given me confidence about the wrist HR after comparing it to a Polar OH1+ and my Garmin red strap. Makes sense really if my niche idea isn't supported!

Garmin Forerunner 645 Music - anyone got one?

I've had my FitBit Ionic recalled (there's some issue with battery burns), and thinking of switching to Garmin. Had one of the old 310Xts up to 6 or 7 years ago, but that's obviously very much superceded and was only a running gadget rather than a smartwatch. Found a nice deal on the 645.

I'm keen that the running stopwatchy things have easy to see numbers (without needing to put my reading glasses on). The spec seems to be pretty similar to the Ionic in what it'll track. I'm a bit wary of the 'feedback on your training' thing though as I don't want constant reminders that I'm not training like a 20-something.

Any views on 645s, or Shiny New Garmins generally, appreciated.
