The FitBit recall/refund thing appears to be in meltdown, but I'm quite tempted to go ahead and worry about that later. Currently using my old Surge, which was towards the end of its life but is hanging in there until I get myself sorted (though I need a magnifying glass). The music function of the Ionic was crap - it tended to make the running recording crash and mess up all the data, although I tend to use my phone anyway. The 645 is now about Ionic price, but used to be nearly double, so I think it's a good option.

Again I think this may refer to the prediction. The previous predictor was just a look up table. The new one is at the very least a more complicated look up table that takes training load into account.

Badger Mar 2022 9:03pm, 4 Mar 2022 14,919 posts	0 Badger The VO2max calculation on newer units is definitely different from the 645, unless it picked up the improvements that support trail run VO2max - see dcrainmaker.com and search for Bonner who is the Garmin ex-Firstbeat guy quoted on the improvements that rolled out when the Enduro came out. Mind you I still usually leave it off on trail runs, partly tending to have a pack and partly my general mediocrity being even more obvious off-road.
