Worker deaths at the Olympics. Big emphasis on reported deaths as opposed to reality.

Compared to 6500 migrant worker deaths in Qatar since 2010, of which there have been 37 deaths among workers directly linked to construction of World Cup stadiums, of which 34 are classified as “non-work related” by the event’s organising committee. (which is highly dubious, someone who dies of a heart attack say on site would be non-work related, when in reality their working conditions can contribute hugely to them).

Whilst you do inevitably have a point, I have previously chaired a local group about racial harassment to ensure that we as public services do all that we can to actively tackle racism, so it was a case management conference. You would be shocked by how many incidents people have to deal with daily, especially visible ethnic minorities and especially from lads passing in cars thinking it is great fun to shout, 'oi, Bin Laden'. In the grand scheme of things that doesn't sound much, until you make it your daily existence on your walk to work or school or shops. So it is endemic.

Another problem here is a white, middle class male chairing such a group but that's for another day.

Oh totally Oscar, I remember my uni days walking back to the station with some BAME students, and one car driver shouting abuse and I was waving my fist in the air, and they were saying to me - "calm, no point, we get it all the time". But it's relatively isolated compared to 50 posts that can appear with a few minutes, I mean it only takes a second to send a gorilla emoji. Really social media companies have to step up, apparently they did in Germany about holocaust denial when legislation pretty much forced them too. Also they like to try and claim some of the football stuff as "in a specific context" or "banter" - when the police here say it's prosecutable...

Yes, they really should have accountability as part of their social responsibility charter (assuming they have one).

Hope it is not true (for all Derby fans) but rumours are that Mike Ashley is looking at buying Derby. Get ready for a Sports Direct stadium name?

FR, that would actually be a big improvement on the idiot that is Mel Morris.

Ah, the beautiful game, remember that? Let's put down some jumpers and have a socially-distanced kickabout. Long shots only, and no hugging and kissing.
