Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

A few more pointers I find help.

A pull body means that you don't have to worry about legs. Just engage that core and focus on the drill.

It also means on the swim back you can focus solely on hands, particularly the phase of stroke you are sculling to improve.

If you don't have access to a pullbouy, engage core and do a flutter kick just to keep your legs up.

A scull drill set I'd suggest is

25m scull1, 25m swim
25m scull 2, 25m swim
25m scull 3, 25m swim

And repeat 3 times.

If you can't do a full length of each scull then focus on getting it right for 1/2 length and build to full length over time.

I can also suggest sets that in corporate other drills too. We often do 2 over drills slotted in between each scull and repeat the set x2.

It would be so much easier if we had a Fetch pool we could all meet at and I could.just wave my arms around for you to see.

(We'd also be uber polite and courteous and swim on appropriate lanes!)

Sorry if I've gone over board on this.
I've kind of got my coach head on since they asked me to go back and do some again.

Ditto, thank you Sushi, and really timely as I'm doing lots of catch and pull drills (your comment about missing the final bit of power before the hand leaves the water is very relevant!).

Can I vote for a Fetch pool, please, ideally next to the Fetch lake?

Once the Internet Millions roll in I'm pretty sure Katie will insist on a Fetch Pool at the Training Complex. We just need to be a bit patient. ;-)

@Sushi Thank you. That's a really brilliant load of info for me to work through and work at.

Doggy Paddle is also a good drill for improving catch and 'feel for the water'. Usually slightly faster progress through the water than sculling, which sometimes helps the mindset.

But sculling is vitally important. Really shouldn't be undervalued.
