Going back to weird hand drills a few pages ago - our coach had us swim holding ping pong balls! I think she chose these because if you lose your grip they float and are retrievable ![]() Not sure if you've already got drills for trying to get high elbows, nellers? One of the drills I can remember was touching your shoulder and then your ear with your hand before it goes into the water. I had to slow right down to do this one so it maybe won't work in the fast lane. I'll join the challenge even though my low mileage means I won't finish, it will be nice to have more badges to collect ![]() |

Well my start to the swim challenge might be a bit slower than expected as the pool is closed with no indication of a reopening date! Apparently a building inspection found problems with the roof above the pool. Fortunately there are some other options locally, though sadly none as convenient as my current 10-minute walk, think I might be getting my bike out. Alternatively the nearby lake opens this weekend, but I don't think I'm quite ready for a decent open water swim with the current temperatures! |

I'm surprised my pool is open on Sunday. There's no lane sessions, just public swims, totalling 2.5 hrs. Problem is it could be 'kid soup and head up chatters' though at the moment with 80 bookable spots my guess is it could be a chance to get going on my swim efforts |

Shame about your pool, CasB. Hope alternatives are available. My pool is open pretty much as normal through Easter. I think they might be closing early on Monday but I'm a morning swimmer anyway so it shouldn't have any impact. The main effect of Easter for me will be less traffic on the roads on my way home from my morning swims next week. |

Busy this morning but they did give us a double lane so plenty of space to overtake/ get out of the way. Decided to just swim random bits until I hit traffic, which resulted in me getting in sync with the group and swimming my first (at least first in several years) continuous 1km. The Garmin thinks I did a 400m within that in 7:18 which would be a new PB. Is it valid to log that on the swim paces page? |
