I still don’t quite understand though where does it say leave the circle in the guide? Do you mean the circle around the whole of my area? I don’t see how I’ve managed to squish my bug 2 days running without paying attention to this but I’ve just read the guide again and can’t see any mention of running outside of the circle! Sorry if I’m repeating myself, my autism processing is a bit cranky and I don’t have the energy to edit my text,

You have to run through your bug and run outside your big blue circle on the same activity to squish your bug. This can be done in any order.

jelly - the guide says this:

"Red bugs are bad! Pick them up, then get out of your home circle to squish them."

The only thing that isn't clear there is that, in practice, it doesn't matter if you leave your circle *before* or *after* you run over the bug. As long as you leave the circle at some point on the same activity, they'll be squished.

Or start your actvity from anywhere outside your circle and go over your bug and all is well too.

That isn't a bad idea Grouch!

Jelly, I was at my sisters last week and twice did I have to get the bike out to quickly ride the bug out of the circle, even though I walked the dog all over it! I simply wasn't familiar with the home circle as I am with my own.
Also: be aware that on your bike, the faster you go, tbe further apart the dots left by the Garmin are so I often cycle through flowers for example and only pick half of them... So make sure you move slowly enough to leave at least 1 dot inside the circle surrounding the bug or jewels etc.

If your Garmin offers different activity profiles, .e.g. run & cycle, using them should mitigate the sparse dots issue. Joophy's earlier 'smart mode' warning highlights another possible cause.
