Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Morning all. Gym this morning. Felt a bit under-energied, do t know why. Anyway, it’s done.

I had my weekly visit to the body scanner, and was chuffed to see that my visceral fat score had gone down. The target is “under 12”. When I started in January it was 16, went to 15 a week or so later, but has stubbornly remained there ever since. Now, it’s moved. So it feels like I’m almost half way to a healthy visceral fat level.

Of course, now that I’ve been doing my background reading, I’m aware that it’s not the fat AROUND the organs which matters for my diabetes, but the fat WITHIN my liver and pancreas. That can’t be measured by this technique, only by a specialised MRI. But visceral fat is a proxy for it, so the fact that that has gone down means the intra-organ fat will have gone down as well. And the improvement in my BG suggests that as well.

So, this exercise week will consist of:
Monday - gym
Tuesday - swim
Wednesday - gym
Thursday - walking group, 7-8 miles
Friday - churches’ walk of witness, approx 3.5 mostly slow miles in total. There will be a hot cross bun!
Saturday - Functional Fitness

Next week, I’m anticipating that the leisure centre will be closed for the Bank Holiday. So maybe that would be the time to try a little trot outside, if the weather is suitable?

Great upbeat post Woo hope the scales reward you

Rev great news on the visceral fat and any changes you’re making are in the right direction.

Apparently whatever I’ve got is viral so no meds just salt water gargling 🤢, honey and lemon hot water and paracetamol. I have an allergy to anaesthetic so can’t even have a throat spray. Happy days.

That’s what is worrying me Poppy, Little Miss Happy is 2 weeks in with it.

I am not going to risk long term health and to be honest the thought of standing up feels too energetic today. Hope you’re over it now Poppy. Roll on summer.

Forgot to weigh in this morning! I’ll do it later this week.

I haven’t entirely been on track with food or exercise, so STS is probably the best I can expect.

geordiegirl that sounds pretty bad. Hopefully plenty of rest and fluid will fight it off.

That viral thing sounds nasty. I hate to mention the C word, but have any of you with this lurgy done Covid tests? The two times I’ve had, lack of energy was far and away the most debilitating symptom.

Mandy - welcome back and glad to hear life is slowly getting back to normal.

GG - salt water gargling doesn't sound appealing .. for some reason, it reminds me of my last dip in the sea (a very choppy one!) ;) Anyway, keep on with the honey & lemon and paracetamol and hope that relieves the worst of the symptoms.

Sarah - good news your weight-loss mojo is back on parade.

RevG - good news your visceral fat score had gone down. Sounds like a busy week coming up with lots of exercise planned.

I got out for an early 3.5ml walk this morning (pre-breakfast). Having changed my 'official' weigh-in to Saturday I jumped on the scales anyway to see how things were looking. For the first time since October, it read 90-something (actually 90.8kgs). I can't tell you how stupidly happy having my weight in the 90kg range has made me :)
