At the airport waiting to fly off to Madeira for a week. Don’t suppose I will lose any weight in the next 7 days.

That's perfectly fine SarahWoo - in the same vein, no reason to assume you will gain, either! Enjoy your break ![]() |

Enjoy your trip SarahWoo! I've lost weight again this week, which I'm pleased about, especially as it feels a lot more manageable and sustainable. I'm trying to get out for a walk as well as doing some other exercise most days, which helps my overall well being too. Next week could be a bit tricky as I'm visiting and looking after my mum Sunday to Sunday. I'll be cooking and making the food, so I have some control, but I'll have to use a combination of things she has in and maybe a bit of a shop for lunches. I also got gifted an afternoon tea delivery, which I've arranged to come while I'm there. Quiches, sausage rolls, scones and cakes! Hopefully we can spread out the treats over a few days. My other challenge will be exercise, as it's not a great area to run in, but I'll check out some routes before I go, and maybe drive to either the sea-front or the park and run around the perimeter. I'm also looking at if I can book PAYG classes/spinning at the local sports centre. But I'll also need to be around if Mum needs help getting dressed and ready in a morning. Then I'm working during the day. |

I’m down 0.8 kg since last Monday, so am going in the right direction. I’m pretty much back to where I was at the beginning of December, when I started on my “eat all the things, and drink too much alcohol” for the month. I’ve just looked at my weight graph from when I started recording on Fetch, which was January 2008. I have had a couple of periods of stability at around 60 kg, and also at around 63 kg. I will aim for 60 again, and see how that goes. WtnMel I hope you don’t get despondent and can turn things around again. I like to think that it is good even to be weighing and be aware of where you are at, and small gains are part of the journey. As Rev said, weight can fluctuate from day to day, so depending on what day you choose to record for the week will impact what you register as a loss (or gain) for the week. |

Have a great trip SarahWoo!! Hope your time with your mum goes ok Scribbler, maybe an opportunity for you to try some new things. It may mean you're not as in control but the important thing is to jump back on it when you're back. Is there any online classes you could do from the house which means you're close to hand if needed? Its all going a bit pearshaped here I am having a few abdominal issues again which is causing my tummy to bloat, I feel extremely run down stressing over work life and trying to keep on top of all the pull's at home too. But I finally made the decision to get a ninja multicooker which arrived today and I am excited to try it out which I'm hoping means I can make delicious meals without standing over a cooker for far too long and maybe get some prep done the night before so it cooks while I am doing other things. I will report back! |

My scale this morning confirms a downward trend. The fancy schmancy one at the gym confirmed it had taken a reading and uploaded it, but the data is nowhere to be found when I log in. Huh! However, I actually don’t need a scale to tell me I am losing fat around my middle, it is patently obvious. I had that conversation with the practice nurse yesterday evening. The upshot is, keep on with what I’m doing and we’ll recheck bloods in 3 months (which is what I wanted to do originally!) Keep an eye on my blood glucose in the meantime, and I’ve got that new medication to take (I’d rather not) if it starts creeping up. I’m happy with that. Putting less carbohydrate into my mouth means less insulin is needed to deal with it - so blood glucose goes down. Losing weight means I become less insulin resistant, so for the same amount of carbohydrate going in, blood glucose will be lower. Exercise both uses up glucose there and then and improves insulin sensitivity - so while blood glucose often goes up during exercise (as your body thinks you need the energy), it falls afterwards, and then gradually reduces over time. I’ve been to the gym and done a fairly hard resistance workout….. and during my 5 minute treadmill warm-up, I spent some of the time RUNNING!!! |

great news Rev I'm wondering ... I've been doing 30m weeks almost every week now since the end of Oct and the last few weeks I've either STS or gained a little Now I know I am a pig and there are some places were I have increased on a couple of days but I do also wonder if my body is used to that mileage now so I therefore need to reduce my intake? and (worryingly as I hate doing it) track my calories and protein properly |

How much do you want to lose, EvilPixie? 1200 calories is very low to sustain for any length of time. Maybe an intermittent fasting/5:2 approach would suit you better.
