Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I took the 8th Trulicity injection this morning, which means it’s 7 weeks since I started. And I’m down a stone in total :-)

In other news... my car needs to go in today because there appears to be a coolant leak. And I will be walking the almost 3 miles home - that’s today’s exercise sorted.

Well done Rev! What are the injections for? I must have missed it if you mentioned it.

FdnB - the injections are for type 2 diabetes as it wasn't adequately controlled on tablets. Mind you, the constant grazing and frequent bingeing didn't help with that, but I was in a bad place mentally.

The drug is almost identical to a gut hormone called GLP-1, which is released when you eat, and acts in various ways to reduce excess blood glucose. The drug has just been altered so it lasts much longer in the body, hence I only need to inject once a week. Natural GLP-1 only lasts a few minutes before it degrades.

One of the (welcome) side effects is loss of appetite. This doesn't make me incapable of overeating, but does make it much less likely. Most of the time I am serving myself smaller portions, and often not finishing them. So I am 'working with' the drug by limiting sweets and snacking.... it's not just all happening without any effort on my part!

Oh - and the car needs a new water pump, and apparently that is better done when also changing the cambelt assembly.... which I had done nearly 3 years ago, only they didn't do the water pump at the same time, which this dealer says is recommended. Result: not getting the car back till tomorrow and will be £600 poorer.

Sounds like a juggling act with your meds and great that you’re able to work with them to help your health and snacking well done Rev.

On the car front... if the garage says they should have changed but didn’t have you argued they should contribute to the cost now? It’s worth a shot!

One of our colleagues part owns an Indian restaurant (a very good one) and today he’s brought is in some food... leftovers from a party they had in last night. Good job I’m ‘carb loafing’ for Sunday’s 7hr run challenge event! Also mitigated with a lower cal/fat evening meal and a 5m run home.

'Carb loafing' - what a great expression, but maybe not what you meant!!

Unfortunately a different garage from the one which did the previous work, GG, as we moved 2.5 years ago.

But with all this mindfulness meditation, I am nicely chilled. I need a car, and £600 is cheaper than a new one.

A week of eating naturally so eating when I’m hungry no stressing about whether a meal is too calorific or whether I’ve not had enough calories so having a bit extra and I’ve lost 1lb.

The best bit has been no stressing and feeling in control.

It’s my big run on Sunday, I’m out with hubby’s work colleagues tonight tomorrow will be a very relaxed & restful day and I just hope I manage to pull off my target on Sunday. That I woke up this morning having dreamt of the run I now know I must remember to register and collect a wrist band every lap... that they put pics up last night showing us the goodies for the aid station which includes cream eggs I may not finish the run with a calorie deficit!!!

Hope your results are good this week and that you have a great weekend.

STS for me too this week which is a result really because I had a really hungry week and didn't stay within cals.
We've got family birthday meals out tonight and on Sunday but I'll drive to avoid alcohol calories. Lots of exercise to come over the weekend too so hopefully, I'll start the week on a more positive note.

Glad you've had a result this week, gg. Enjoy your run on Sunday x
